The Caneyen.
An Advanced Walking Cane for the Blind.
The Caneyen is an advanced walking cane for the blind oporating from an Arduino based circuit using sensors to send vibrational feedback to the handle. This project was done on a team of six including Nikolay Liharski, Tim Piette, Jon Silvestri, John Slaby, Connor Young, and myself and six corresponding subsystems including circuitry, programming, power, chassis, human interface, and a charging stand. I was responsible for the human interface.

Human Interface.

Part of the human interface was choosing what vibrational patterns go with what messages. In order to make educated choices I performed field testing and interviews with visually impaired individuals in a nearby town.
