Woodward Inn.
Permanent Housing for Homeless in Troy.
Joseph’s House is a community based homeless shelter located in downtown Troy, NY whose mission is to alleviate and eliminate homelessness. One important service of Joseph’s House is their Hill Street and Lansing Inn program which serves to permanently house individuals who are mentally ill and primarily qualified as chronically homeless. Both of these residences include continual advocacy and support for each resident. Even with both of these residences however, there are still sixteen to eighteen known cases of homelessness in Troy. These homeless individuals fit the requirements of these residencies but because both are currently at capacity we see a need to create additional housing within Joseph’s House. The Woodward Inn, would be a means to house these individuals and provide a foundation to integrate tenants back into society. The Woodward Inn would be a third permanent housing facility offered by Joseph’s House acting as part of the Hill Street and Lansing Inn program they already provide. The Inn will offer many important services and programs such as advocacy, room checks, guidance for living in an apartment, and encouragement for positive life choices without force.
